6.6: Program Delivery

Once your organization begins delivering Powerhouse®, learning continues through the experience of facilitators and young caregivers participating in the program.

During delivery, organizations should:

  • keep required program records, such as participation and attendance information;
  • create opportunities for young caregivers to share their experiences, needs and feedback throughout programming;
  • pay attention to what is working well and where adjustments or additional support may be helpful; and
  • encourage facilitators to reflect on their experience delivering the program.

Participant voice is an important part of Powerhouse®. Young caregivers may share valuable feedback through conversations, activities and reflections, not only through formal evaluation. The Powerhouse® curriculum, for example, includes activities that help facilitators learn more about young caregivers and use that understanding to inform future weeks. It also recognizes young caregivers as co-creators, with their input helping shape programming around what they need and what works for them.

This ongoing listening helps facilitators remain responsive to the group and provides important context when reflecting on program delivery. Not everything learned during program delivery needs to be formally recorded or reported. Ongoing participant voice and facilitator reflection help strengthen delivery, while required program information and evaluation are collected consistently through the processes identified for the Powerhouse® program being offered.
