6.7: Evaluation
Powerhouse® evaluation helps us understand who was reached, what young caregivers experienced and what they gained through the program. The evaluation process will look different depending on the Powerhouse® program being delivered. Each program has identified outcomes and corresponding evaluation tools that reflect its purpose and structure. For example, the six-week Powerhouse® curriculum measures changes in areas such as well-being, stress, connection, knowledge, emotional understanding, caregiving identity, coping, confidence and application of learning.
Organizations are responsible for:
- using the evaluation tools identified for the Powerhouse® program being delivered;
- completing evaluation at the required points in the program;
- gathering the required quantitative and qualitative information; and
- ensuring information is collected and managed according to the privacy and confidentiality practices discussed earlier in this training.
The specific outcomes, evaluation tools and collection points for each program will be outlined in the corresponding Powerhouse® Facilitation Guide. You do not need to create your own evaluation framework for Powerhouse®. Your program selection determines the outcomes you measure, the tools you use and when evaluation takes place.
