5.2:  Delivery Options (In-person, Virtual, Kits)

Before selecting a format, understand what each one asks of your organization week to week.

Staff Time

The hours below reflect YCA’s experience delivering each format and cover the full picture — not just session delivery.

Virtual Support Group

Up to 1.5 hours per session, plus up to 2–3 hours of preparation

Virtual Program

Approximately 5 hours per week, including registration, logistics, coordination, and delivery

In-Person Program

Approximately 8 hours per week, including outreach, purchasing supplies, setup, delivery, and cleanup

Facilitators

In-person Powerhouse® sessions always run with two facilitators. If something is triggered for a participant during a session, one facilitator can step out and support them while the other continues running the group. This is not a supervision ratio — it is about being able to respond to a young caregiver without ending the session for everyone else.

Virtual formats can be delivered by one trained facilitator. If your organization’s own policies require two adults for programming with children and youth, follow your policy. See Lesson 3, Topic 3.5 for supervision expectations.

★ Powerhouse® Tip:  Preparation is heaviest in the weeks immediately before a cycle begins and immediately after it ends. Registration, intake, materials preparation, and follow-up all sit outside the delivery weeks. Plan staff time across the full cycle rather than counting session hours alone.
