5.4: Build in Lead Time

Your program doesn’t begin on the first session date.

Start with your intended first session and work backwards to make sure you have enough time for:

  • Outreach to referral partners and confirming referral pathways (Lesson 2).
  • Registration, consent, and intake (Lesson 3).
  • Facilitator training and required screening (Lesson 3, Topic 3.9).
  • Booking program space and confirming permits, if needed.
  • Purchasing and preparing materials.
  • Communicating program details with young caregivers and families.

★ Powerhouse® Tip: Give yourself more lead time for your first cycle. Once your referral pathways, intake processes, facilitators, and program systems are established, future cycles will often require less setup.
