Lesson 5: Program Setup and Operations

Once your policies are in place and you understand what Powerhouse® will cost, the next step is deciding how you will deliver it and what needs to be in place before your first session. Powerhouse® can be delivered in more than one way. Each format asks something different of your organization in staff time, facilitators, space, and scheduling. The right format is the one your organization can deliver well and sustain over time.

This lesson walks through the delivery formats, what each requires operationally, how to staff and schedule a program cycle, and what needs to be ready before young caregivers arrive.

Lesson 5 Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to:

  • Confirm your program space, materials, and operational arrangements are ready before your first session.
  • Describe each Powerhouse® delivery format and what delivering it involves in practice.
  • Determine which format fits your organization’s current staffing, space, and capacity.
  • Plan a realistic program calendar, including cycle timing and preparation time.
  • Identify the roles and people needed to deliver Powerhouse® and how they will be recruited, trained, and supported.
