Before moving forward, it helps to understand where YCA’s work began, how Powerhouse® developed, and how young caregiver support has grown over time.

Young Caregivers Association (YCA) has been part of the development of young caregiver support in Canada for more than two decades. Originally established as Young Carers Initiative (YCI), the organization has evolved and grown over time and is now known as Young Caregivers Association. Through this work, Powerhouse® has grown as YCA’s model for supporting young caregivers and their families.
