Welcome!

Thank you for joining us. By taking this training, your organization is preparing to bring the Powerhouse® Program to young caregivers in your community. That is an exciting step and one that has the potential to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and youth who often go unseen.

Whether you are new to the concept of young caregivers or already work with children, youth, and families, this course will provide the knowledge and tools to confidently recognize, support, and engage young caregivers.

About This Course:

This Infrastructure Training is the first step in preparing your organization to deliver Powerhouse®. It covers the foundational knowledge, practical tools, and organizational groundwork needed to build a sustainable program. The training is organized into six short modules:

  1. Young Caregiver 101: who young caregivers are, the roles they play, and the impact caregiving has on their well-being.
  2. Outreach and Awareness: how to identify young caregivers and raise awareness in your community.
  3. Policies and Procedures: the organizational practices that create safe, inclusive programming.
  4. Funding and Sustainability: strategies to resource a program that can grow over time.
  5. Program Implementation: preparing for the day-to-day delivery of Powerhouse®.
  6. Evaluation and Impact: measuring outcomes and demonstrating the difference you are making.

By the end of this training, you will be able to confidently explain who young caregivers are, recognize them among the families you serve, and build the organizational foundation needed to launch and sustain the Powerhouse® Program.

Together, we’re building communities where every young caregiver is recognized, valued, and supported. We’re excited to have you as part of this work, and we look forward to partnering with you as you bring the Powerhouse® Program to life.
